About
A man diving off the California coast for his father's remains is swallowed by a sperm whale with an hour of air.
Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams), the youngest child of dive-boat captain Mitt Gardiner (Josh Brolin), returns to California from university in Iowa, a year after his father's death. Mitt's body was never recovered, and Jay, struggling with their strained relationship, wants to find his remains and bring them home for burial.
He makes an unauthorized solo scuba dive off the central California coast, carrying a tank with roughly an hour of air. During the dive he is swallowed by a massive sperm whale and finds himself trapped inside the animal with his air running out. The lessons his father taught him may hold the key to getting out.
