FAQ
Questions about films in German cinemas
Short answers to what people ask before they go.
How do I find films in English or with English subtitles?
Look for the ENGLISH tag on a screening (in the original English, OV, or with English subtitles, OmeU), or open the English-friendly page, which lists films in English and films with English subtitles. Most foreign films in Germany are shown dubbed into German; original-version screenings are marked separately and not every cinema has them.
Are films in German cinemas dubbed?
Mostly yes. In Germany a foreign film is normally shown dubbed into German. Alongside it there are original-version screenings: OV (original version), OmU (original with German subtitles) and OmeU (original with English subtitles). The cinema's ticket page says which version is playing.
Where do I buy tickets?
Tap a time and you go to the cinema's own ticket page. Evenitto does not sell tickets, so the price and the seats you see there are the cinema's.
What is a sneak preview?
A sneak preview is a screening of a new film before it opens, often on a set evening of the week. The title stays secret until it starts, which is why it is also called a surprise film (Überraschungsfilm). They are on the specials page with the other one-off screenings, such as opera and ballet from London and New York.
How current are the times?
The programme is read from the cinemas' own pages and from cinema listings, and it is refreshed during the day. A cinema can still change a time, so the ticket page is the last word.
Where are the films for children?
The children's page lists family and animation films, with the version (dubbed or original) and the age rating (FSK) on the cinema's ticket page.
