About
After losing their home, the Dashwood sisters navigate love and social expectations in Georgia Oakley's adaptation of Jane Austen's novel.
Georgia Oakley directs this adaptation of Jane Austen's novel. After Mr. Dashwood's estate passes to their half-brother John and his wife Fanny, Elinor (Daisy Edgar-Jones), Marianne (Esmé Creed-Miles), their younger sister Margaret (Bodhi Rae Breathnach) and their mother, Mrs. Dashwood (Caitríona Balfe), are left with a smaller home and income. Fanny urges John to withhold what the family was meant to receive, and the couple move into the estate. Edward Ferrars (George MacKay), Fanny's brother, visits; he and Elinor become close, which does not please Fanny. Mrs. Jennings (Fiona Shaw) offers them a rented cottage in Devonshire owned by Sir John Middleton. Elinor hopes Edward will propose, but he only promises to visit. There Marianne meets Colonel Brandon (Herbert Nordrum), a friend of Mrs. Jennings, who develops feelings for her.
