About
A piano tuner with a hearing condition discovers a talent for safe-cracking, and criminals take an interest in his exceptional hearing.
Niki White (Leo Woodall) is a gifted pianist in New York whose career is cut short by hyperacusis, a sensitivity to sound that forces him to wear ear protection against loud noise. He works as a piano tuner with his mentor and father figure Harry Horowitz (Dustin Hoffman), who teaches him that tones are more a feeling than a sound. While tuning at a music conservatory, Niki meets Ruthie Waymon (Havana Rose Liu), a competitive student pianist and aspiring composer, and impresses her with his auditory acuity and memory.
After Harry forgets the combination to his safe, Niki discovers he can open it by ear. When criminals learn that his exceptional hearing can also be used to crack safes, his life takes a dangerous turn.
