About

A Syrian family and an Afghan refugee try to cross the green border into Poland, where an activist and a border guard are drawn in.

In 2021, a Syrian family arrives at an airport in Minsk, Belarus: parents Bashir (Jalal Altawil) and Amina (Dalia Naous), their three children, and Bashir's grandfather Mohamed (Mohamad Al Rashi). They plan to cross the open green border into Poland, travel through Germany and meet a relative in Sweden. Leila (Behi Djanati Atai), an English-speaking refugee from Afghanistan, accompanies them. At the Polish border, the group is forced out of a transport van and made to continue on foot into the forest.

The film also follows Julia (Maja Ostaszewska), a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, and Jan (Tomasz Włosok), a young Polish border guard who is soon to become a father. Their lives become entangled with the refugees in the forests along the border between Belarus and Poland.
