About
Prince Rama wins a princess at a royal contest, but a queen's boons send him into a fourteen-year exile.
Based on Valmiki's epic Ramayana, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is set in an age of gods and kings. Prince Rama (Ranbir Kapoor), the rightful heir to Ayodhya, is mentored by the sage Vishvamitra. In the kingdom of Mithila, Rama strings the divine bow Pinaka at a royal swayamvara and wins the hand of Princess Sita (Sai Pallavi). The succession is disrupted when Queen Kaikeyi (Lara Dutta) invokes ancient boons: Rama loses his claim to the throne and is sent into a fourteen-year exile. Bound by duty, he leaves for the Dandaka Forest with Sita and his brother Lakshmana (Ravi Dubey). Yash plays Ravana, an immortal ruler driven by pride and revenge. Nitesh Tiwari directs.
