A dialogue-free animated drama about a castaway on an uninhabited tropical island whose attempts to escape are repeatedly thwarted by a giant red turtle.
The Red Turtle is a dialogue-free animated fantasy drama directed by Michael Dudok de Wit. A man is set adrift by a storm and wakes on a beach on an uninhabited tropical island with fresh water, fruit and a dense bamboo forest, dominated by a smooth rock hill. He builds rafts from bamboo and tries to sail away, but an unseen creature in the sea destroys them and forces him back. When he finally sees the creature, it is a giant red sea turtle. The cast includes Tom Hudson as the Son as a young adult, Baptiste Goy as the Son as a child, Axel Devillers as the Son as a baby, and Barbara Beretta as the Mother.
