About

A tornado carries Dorothy and her dog Toto to Oz, where she follows the Yellow Brick Road with three companions to seek the Wizard.

Dorothy lives on a Kansas farm with her Aunt Em (Clara Blandick) and her dog Toto. When neighbor Almira Gulch (Margaret Hamilton) tries to take Toto away, Dorothy runs off and meets the fortune teller Professor Marvel (Frank Morgan), who persuades her to return home. A tornado then carries the farmhouse, with Dorothy and Toto inside, to the magical land of Oz. There she meets Glinda (Billie Burke) and sets out along the Yellow Brick Road for the Emerald City to ask the Wizard of Oz (Frank Morgan) for help. On the way she is joined by the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), the Tin Man (Jack Haley) and the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), who hope the Wizard can give them what they lack. The Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) is also on their trail.
