About
A conservative Romanian-Norwegian family moves to a remote Norwegian village, where their daughter arrives at school with bruises.
After the death of Mihai's parents, Mihai Gheorghiu (Sebastian Stan), a Romanian engineer, and his Norwegian wife Lisbet (Renate Reinsve), a nursing home worker, move with their five children from Romania to a remote village in Norway to be near Lisbet's family. The couple are devout evangelical Christians and raise their children according to strict Christian rules. In the village they grow close to their neighbours the Halbergs: Mats (Markus Tønseth), the local school headmaster, his wife Mia (Lisa Carlehed), an attorney, and Mats's daughter Noora (Henrikke Lund Olsen). The Gheorghius' daughter Elia (Vanessa Ceban) and Noora become friends. Frida (Lisa Loven Kongsli), a teacher who also works with Child Welfare Services, notices bruises on Elia during physical education and reports the family to Child Services.
