About
A Spanish widow in Tangier resists her daughter’s plan to sell the family apartment and move her into a care home.
Maria Ángeles Muñoz, a Spanish widow played by Carmen Maura, lives alone in Tangier, where she enjoys a quiet life within the city’s close-knit Spanish community. Her daughter Clara (Marta Etura) travels from Madrid to sell the family apartment Maria has called home for forty years. Clara has arranged a place for her mother in a care home. Maria refuses to be moved and sets out to keep her home and her belongings, finding inventive ways to resist. In the course of that struggle, she rediscovers love. Directed by Maryam Touzani, Calle Málaga is a drama set in the Moroccan city of Tangier.
