About
A director modelled on Rainer Werner Fassbinder shoots an idiosyncratic version of The Lady of the Camellias while work and private life merge.
EVA (Eva Mattes), a bearded, bisexual and highly eccentric director modelled on Rainer Werner Fassbinder, has installed himself with his cast and crew in a run-down house. There he is shooting a very idiosyncratic version of Alexandre Dumas' The Lady of the Camellias. His accountant tells him that he has many unpaid bills and little cash, and EVA fires him in a rage. He sets his people against one another, dismisses his lover Ali (Charles M. Huber) with cruelty, openly sleeps with his leading lady Gudrun (Lisa Kreuzer), who plays Marguerite, and makes a direct public play for his leading man Walter (Werner Stocker), who plays Armand. The work and life of the troupe become intertwined, and the roles and feelings begin to shift.
