Capacity

Halls and capacity

The Apollozaal is the main seated hall, with 343 places including the balcony. The building also has smaller rooms and foyers for events.

The Apollozaal is the heart of the building: 343 seats including the balcony, and the most flexible space for events. The Thaliazaal offers 180 m², while the Urania and Clio halls can be combined or used separately. The Caliopezaal is the small, cosy room for small gatherings.

For comparison, the Leidse Schouwburg in Leiden seats 541 people and the Vijf Meihal, 11.4 km away, has a capacity of 2,000. De Muze does not publish one capacity for the whole building, because the rooms can be used separately or together.

Seat choice
Ground floor for easier access; balcony for a raised view

The Apollozaal seats 343 people including the balcony. Musicalweb links a one-page plan, plattegrond_de_muze.pdf, published in January 2024. Its labels confirm a podium and a balkon, but the text extract is a dense list of seat numbers rather than named rows or blocks.

That means the plan shows where the stage and balcony are, but it cannot be used to promise a particular sightline or seat number. For the easiest access, ask the box office for a ground-floor seat; for a raised view, choose the balcony only if stairs are not a problem. The venue says the balcony and upper foyer are harder to reach for visitors with limited mobility.

Wheelchair spaces are available in the hall. If you need one, or need to avoid stairs, say so when booking and ask the box office to confirm the route and the seat.

A visitor review published on De Muze's own site describes the hall as large but not too large, with a balcony and more than fine seats and legroom.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about De Muze

How many seats does De Muze have?

The Apollozaal has 343 seats including the balcony. The building also has the Thaliazaal, the combinable Urania and Clio halls, the small Caliopezaal and two foyers, so there is no single capacity for the whole building.

Where can I park?

Park at the Wantveld car park directly next to the theatre. It has 480 spaces, is paid every day and is about a one-minute walk from the entrance. Check the municipality's current rates before you travel.

How much does parking cost?

The first two hours cost €1.20 per hour; after that the rate is €3.00 per hour. A day ticket costs €10.00 from 1 October to 31 March and €15.00 from 1 April to 30 September.

What time do shows start and end?

Most evening theatre and cabaret shows start at 20:15, with some at 20:00. Several published end times ran about 2.5 hours: a 14:30 family show ended at 17:00, a 19:00 show at 21:30 and a 20:15 show at 22:45. End times vary, so check the show page.

When do the doors open?

The hall doors open 15 minutes before the performance. The building itself is open during regular hours, so you can arrive earlier for a drink in the theatre café.

Do I need a ticket for the café?

No. The theatre café is open to everyone, with or without a theatre ticket, for coffee, wine, beer or a snack.

Can I get a refund?

Tickets for fixed-programme shows can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the start. You receive the amount as digital credit on your De Muze account. Association and organisation shows cannot be cancelled or rebooked.

Is De Muze accessible?

The venue is largely accessible and has wheelchair spaces in the hall. There is no lift, so the balcony and upper foyer are harder to reach for visitors with limited mobility. Ask the box office for a ground-floor seat.

Are guide dogs allowed?

Yes, officially recognised guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome. Report the visit by phone or email in advance and make sure the dog stays calm during the performance.

Can I bring a child on my lap?

Children may sit on a parent's lap, but you must book two adjacent seats: one for the parent and one for the child.

What is the address?

De Muze is at Wantveld 2, 2202 NS Noordwijk. The Wantveld bus stop is a one-minute walk away, and the Wantveld car park is next door.

How do I contact the box office?

Phone 071 364 62 26 or email [email protected]. The box office is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:00 to 17:00 and one hour before performances.

Is there a lift to the balcony?

No. There is no lift, so the balcony and upper foyer are reached by stairs. If you cannot manage stairs, book a ground-floor seat and tell the box office about your needs.

What can I see at De Muze?

The programme includes theatre, musicals, cabaret, dance, concerts, films and family shows. The official programme page lists the current dates, start times and prices; the venue also runs a cinema.

How do I get there by public transport?

Bus 21 or 90 stops at Wantveld, 50 metres away. Vuurtorenplein is 260 metres away with bus 20, 21, 23, 90, 361 and 385; Groot Hoogwaak is 510 metres away with bus 21 and 90. From Voorhout station, take bus 90 to Wantveld.
