About
Harry and Sally meet on a drive from Chicago to New York and disagree about whether men and women can be friends.
In 1977, Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) finish their studies at the University of Chicago. Sally drives to New York and takes Harry along because he is seeing her friend Amanda. On the road they talk about life and relationships, and Harry argues that friendship between men and women is impossible because sex always gets in the way. Sally disagrees. In a diner Harry tells her he finds her attractive, and she accuses him of making a pass. They say goodbye at the Washington Square Arch, both expecting never to meet again. Five years later they run into each other at an airport; Sally remembers him without enthusiasm, while Harry cannot place her at first.
