In 1992 Chile, nine-year-old Inés befriends a German teenage skier at her grandparents’ hotel; when the skier disappears, her mother arrives.
In 1992, nine-year-old Inés (Maya O’Rourke) is staying at her grandparents’ hotel near a ski resort in Chile while her parents are away on business. She meets Hanna (Maia Domagala), a German teenager who is training in Chile as a skier with her coach Alexander (Jakub Gierszał); the relationship between Hanna and Alexander is increasingly tense. Inés becomes friends with Hanna and finds a confidante in her. One night Hanna is gone, and a search begins. Hanna’s mother, Lina (Saskia Rosendahl), arrives at the hotel. An unusual bond develops between Lina and Inés: the girl helps the desperate mother in the search and becomes something like a substitute daughter to her. Chile, after seventeen years of dictatorship, is marked by a culture of silence.
