About

In 2006, TV journalist Chris Hansen and a vigilante group stage sting operations for Dateline NBC, confronting men who expect to meet minors.

Lance Oppenheim directs this 2026 American psychological thriller. In 2006, NBC journalist Chris Hansen (Robert Pattinson) hosts To Catch a Predator, a Dateline NBC series made with the anti-pedophilia vigilante group Perverted-Justice. The team sets up sting operations in houses, using decoy actors of legal age to lure men who expect to meet minors; Hansen and a camera crew confront the men before their arrest. The show becomes a ratings success, and NBC's Jeff Zucker places it in the primetime slot to compete with Lost. Dan Plum (Skyler Gisondo), an aspiring actor seeking Screen Actors Guild credits, is cast as one of the decoys. Merritt Wever, Matthew Maher and Phoebe Bridgers appear in supporting roles.
