About
A documentary follows two grandchildren and a German lawyer as they try to reclaim art looted from their family during the Nazi era.
The European Dream is a documentary by Mooly Landesman, Julius Klausner's granddaughter. It follows two grandchildren and a German lawyer who set out to recover art that was looted from their family during the Nazi era. A letter listing valuable works leads them to Berlin's Jewish community, where they trace the stories of their grandfathers, Julius Klausner and Robert Graetz. Both were German Jews who once envisioned a society in which cultural and social integration could thrive. The grandchildren try to reclaim the works through legal means, but run into bureaucracy, auction houses bound by confidentiality and people who invoke statutes of limitations.
