About
A documentary about Dr Cristina Cattaneo, who examines nameless bodies in her autopsy room and speaks up for the dignity of the dead.
Every night, bodies without names arrive in the autopsy room of Dr Cristina Cattaneo. She calls them the Pure Unknown. Many come from groups living at the margins of society: homeless people, sex workers and teenagers who have run away. In recent times, most have been migrants whom the Mediterranean has left on Italy's shores. The documentary looks at what remains when someone dies without an identity. While the rights of the living are protected, the dead seem to have none, and hardly anyone appears to care about their dignity. Cristina Cattaneo does.
