About
A New York advertising executive is mistaken for a secret agent and kidnapped by two men, setting off a chase.
Alfred Hitchcock’s 1959 spy thriller North by Northwest stars Cary Grant as Roger Thornhill, a New York advertising executive. At the Plaza Hotel in New York, a waiter calls for George Kaplan; Thornhill is mistaken for Kaplan and is kidnapped by two men. They take him to a house on Long Island, where Phillip Vandamm (James Mason) questions him. Thornhill denies being Kaplan. His captors force him to drink bourbon and put him behind the wheel of a car on a road beside a dangerous cliff. He avoids the cliff, and the police arrest him for driving under the influence. Eva Marie Saint plays Eve Kendall.
