About
A documentary about the 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, and Danish hippy Ole Nydahl, whose life changed after meeting him in Nepal in 1969.
Marta György-Kessler's documentary is about Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, the 16th Karmapa, who led the Karma Kagyu lineage, one of Tibetan Buddhism's four main schools. He was known as a Living Buddha and King of the Yogis. The film looks at his early years in Tibet, the preservation of his centuries-old lineage in exile in India, and his aim to make Eastern wisdom accessible to the West. It also introduces Ole Nydahl, a young Danish hippy who as a child said he wanted to become a Danish champion of the mind. A chance meeting with the Karmapa in Nepal in 1969 changes his life. With his wife Hannah, Nydahl becomes central to spreading Tibetan Buddhism in the West and founding hundreds of meditation centres.
