About

A nature documentary follows a 210-year-old oak in Sologne and the animals that live in and around it over one calendar year.

A pedunculate oak, 210 years old and 17 metres tall, stands in the forest of Sologne. The nature documentary by Laurent Charbonnier and Michel Seydoux follows the tree and its animal inhabitants through one calendar year. It is told without spoken commentary. At the oak live jays, squirrels, acorn and chestnut borers, wood mice, Aesculapian snakes, great spotted woodpeckers, nuthatches, robins, great tits and blue tits. In the surrounding area live wild boar, nutrias, roe deer, red deer, badgers, foxes, water frogs, barn owls and sparrowhawks. The animals find refuge, shelter and a home in and around the tree.
