About
A grumpy widower in Regensburg meets his childhood sweetheart again after forty years and enrols in her art seminar to win a second chance.
Walter (Heiner Lauterbach), a grumpy widower, lives alone with his dog in Regensburg. In retirement he tests restaurants and writes meticulous reviews online. During one of these visits he runs into Alice (Iris Berben), his childhood sweetheart. Forty years earlier he proposed to her and failed spectacularly. Alice, a lively and free-spirited art professor at the University of Regensburg, is still the opposite of the old-fashioned, precise Walter. She values her independent life and wants no relationship stress. She makes a condition: he may get a second chance only if he shows genuine interest in her world. Walter, who has never been interested in art, enrols as a guest student in her seminar, to her horror. There he also meets students forty years younger, who increasingly draw him into their activities.
