About
An aging oil magnate and the US president try to conceal the ecological disaster his drilling has set off.
Alejandro González Iñárritu's Digger follows Digger Rockwell, an aging oil magnate played by Tom Cruise, who works with US President Compson (John Goodman) so that Rockwell's company can drill for oil in Alaska and Greenland. Warnings about methane beneath the Greenland field do not stop the extraction. After an unexpected explosion, a huge ice shelf breaks loose and drifts toward Europe. Dr. Nirav Ganesh (Riz Ahmed), the environmental safety chief, says a collision with Norway could cause tidal waves across the North Sea. Instead of informing the public, Compson and Digger decide to keep information back and hope that the shelf drifts into the Atlantic Ocean and melts. The cast also includes Sandra Hüller as Emma, Michael Stuhlbarg as the Vice President and Jesse Plemons as Kenny.
