About

Three Czechs who doubt reports of the war in Ukraine travel with director Robin Kvapil from Prague to the Donbas to test their views.

Robin Kvapil directs the documentary Change My Mind and appears as himself; the cast also lists Petr Pojman and Peter Pöthe. After an open call for people sceptical of mainstream reporting on the war, three Czech participants are chosen: Ivo, Nikola and Petra. They describe themselves as “dezoláti”, a Czech label for people seen as naïve conspiracy believers. In October 2024 the group sets out by minibus from Prague for the Donbas, with stops in Kyiv and Kharkiv. The journey is meant to confront their pro-Russian views with the situation in the country. Along the way they speak with residents and visit places shaped by the conflict, including metro shelters used by schoolchildren and destroyed neighbourhoods such as Saltivka.
