Luca Salmaso's documentary Carlo Acutis: The Millennial Saint follows the life of Carlo Acutis. Archive footage presents Carlo as himself, while people close to him appear as themselves: his mother Antonia Salzano Acutis, his father Andrea Acutis, his grandmother Luana Pennino, house employee and confidant Rajesh Mohur, childhood friends Mattia and Jacopo Pastorelli, and teacher Elisa Tattanelli. The film travels from pilgrimages to Assisi to digital communities around the world, and considers how Acutis's message reaches different generations and cultures.
It sets his story in a dialogue between earthly life and a transcendent reality, moving between his parish in Milan, several places in Italy and abroad, including Cascia, La Verna, Lanciano, Fátima and Rome, and countries around the world.
