Sinterklaas arrives
Sinterklaas arrives by boat in the harbour at 11:00, and the parade through the centre leaves at 12:45 for the town hall, where there is a balcony scene.
Winters Enschede
Extra lights in the shopping streets, a lit Christmas tree on the H.J. van Heekplein and an ice rink on the Oude Markt. Enschede Lights Up, a free light-art route through the centre, runs from 10 to 13 December.
Booster Festival
A music conference and a free showcase festival in the city centre, where new acts from Overijssel and Gelderland get a stage.
Enschede Marathon
The city's running day, with the marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km, a 5 km and a kids' run. The Enschede Marathon has been run since 1947.
King's Day
King's Day with the free Koningsfestival in the centre, and King's Night the evening before.

Free evenings of live music in July: for the Enschede Live evening the Oude Markt turns into a café, with acts alternating all evening.
