How many people fit in TivoliVredenburg?
The largest halls, Ronda and the Grote Zaal, hold up to 2,000 people. Halls can run at the same time, so the capacities are not added together.
How many people fit depends on the set-up: the Grote Zaal holds 1,717 seated and up to 2,000 with standing room by the stage, and Cloud Nine holds 270 with seats and 450 without. Compared with other venues, the Grote Zaal sits above Paradiso's Grote Zaal in Amsterdam and well below 013's grote zaal in Tilburg.
| Hall or venue | Capacity | Set-up | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grote Zaal (TivoliVredenburg) | 1,717 seated, up to 2,000 with standing at the stage | Seated, standing near the stage | TivoliVredenburg |
| Ronda (TivoliVredenburg) | 2,000 | Standing only | TivoliVredenburg |
| Pandora (TivoliVredenburg) | 650 | Standing only | TivoliVredenburg |
| Hertz (TivoliVredenburg) | 534 | Seats only | TivoliVredenburg |
| Cloud Nine (TivoliVredenburg) | 270 seated, 450 without seats | With or without seats | TivoliVredenburg |
| Paradiso Grote Zaal, Amsterdam | 1,500 | Mostly standing | paradiso.nl |
| 013 grote zaal, Tilburg | Up to 3,000 | Standing | 013.nl |
Seated or standing: which hall for which show?
The Grote Zaal and Hertz have fixed seating; Ronda and Pandora usually have standing room only.
- Grote Zaal
- Ground floor, own foyer and entrance at Vredenburgplein; seats at every concert, standing near the stage at some
- Ronda
- Second floor; standing, with a balcony
- Pandora
- Seventh floor; standing, no fixed stage
- Hertz
- Seventh floor; seats only, on the floor and two balconies, clear view from every seat
- Cloud Nine
- Ninth floor, 47 m up; with or without seats
- Choosing a seat
- Only for concerts with reserved seating, shown when you order
- Which seats? TivoliVredenburg publishes no seat ranking, so these are its own pointers. Hertz: every seat is close to the stage, and even the two balconies have an unobstructed view, so a balcony seat costs you little. Ronda (standing): you are close to the stage with good view and sound wherever you stand, and the balcony, with its own bar, overlooks a wide hall. Grote Zaal: the hall has several levels; at free-seating concerts, staff can show you seats that need no stairs.
- Reserved seating (Grote Zaal, Hertz and some others): you pick the chair on the seating chart when you buy. No chart in the ticket flow means free seating: sit where you like when you enter.
- Free seating means arriving early. Doors open at the time on the event page, and entry before that is not possible.
- Can't stand a whole concert in Ronda or Pandora? Email ticketing before you buy. A limited number of seat stools is available; first come, first served.

What is TivoliVredenburg?
TivoliVredenburg is Utrecht's music building next to Utrecht Centraal, with several halls under one roof, each designed by a different architect.
The Grote Zaal, designed by Herman Hertzberger and in use since 1979 as the symphony hall of the former Muziekcentrum Vredenburg, was restored for the opening in 2014. Ronda, Pandora, Hertz and Cloud Nine (with Club Nine next to it) were added then, each with its own character and size.
Every genre plays here, from pop, dance and jazz to classical, global music, family shows and debate. On the ground floor the building also holds café Het Gegeven Paard and restaurant Danel. The venue does not rent out its halls for your own concert or public event.
