About

A spool found in the Gobi Desert leads scientists to believe a spacecraft from Venus crashed at Tunguska, prompting an international expedition to Venus.

During construction work in the Gobi Desert, a mysterious spool is found. The object is made of a material unknown on Earth and is linked to the Tunguska explosion of 1908. Scientists conclude that the explosion was caused not by a meteor but by a spacecraft, and that the craft came from Venus. The spool is taken to be a flight recorder and is partly decoded by an international team led by Professor Sikarna (Kurt Rackelmann) and Dr. Tchen Yu (Hua-Ta Tang). When radio greetings sent to Venus remain unanswered, Professor Harringway Hawling (Oldřich Lukeš) proposes a journey to Venus. The spaceship Kosmokrator, built for a Mars voyage, is redirected to Venus. Its crew includes Professor Saltyk (Ignacy Machowski), television technician Talua (Julius Ongewe), Professor Arsenew (Mikhail Postnikov), pilot Robert Brinkmann (Günther Simon) and Joan Moran (Lucyna Winnicka).
