About

Two Russian brothers, raised without their father, are taken on a remote fishing trip when he suddenly returns after twelve years.

In contemporary Russia, Ivan (Ivan Dobronravov) and his older brother Andrey (Vladimir Garin) have grown up without their father and live with their mother (Nataliya Vdovina) and grandmother (Galina Petrova). After a twelve-year absence, the father (Konstantin Lavronenko) suddenly returns home. The brothers react differently: Andrey is glad to see him, while Ivan is wary of a man he knows only from an old photograph. With their mother's uneasy consent, the father takes the boys on a fishing trip to a remote island on a lake. What begins as a holiday soon becomes an uneasy test of authority and trust, as the father tries to make up for the missing years in an awkward and increasingly harsh way.
