When Rebel spies steal the Death Star plans, the droids carrying them land on Tatooine and meet Luke Skywalker.
In a galaxy under the rule of the Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance spies steal the blueprints of the Death Star, a space station capable of destroying entire planets. Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) has the plans, but Imperial forces intercept her ship and take her prisoner. The droids R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) escape with the plans and land on the desert planet Tatooine, where Jawa traders capture them and sell them to moisture farmer Owen Lars and his nephew Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). While cleaning R2-D2, Luke finds a recording in which Leia asks Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) for help.
