About
A college student finds a severed ear and is drawn into a mystery involving a nightclub singer and criminals.
David Lynch wrote and directed Blue Velvet, a 1986 American mystery thriller. Kyle MacLachlan plays Jeffrey Beaumont, a college student who comes back to his hometown in North Carolina. In a vacant lot he finds a human ear that has been cut off and brings it to Detective Williams (George Dickerson). Williams's daughter Sandy (Laura Dern) tells Jeffrey that the ear is connected to Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini), a lounge singer. Jeffrey gets into Dorothy's apartment by pretending to be a pest exterminator and takes a spare key while she is occupied by a man in a yellow sport coat. He and Sandy go to Dorothy's club act, where she sings Blue Velvet, and leave early so Jeffrey can enter her apartment. Dennis Hopper plays Frank Booth.
