About

In occupied Saint-Martin in 1943, orphan Sébastien befriends a wild dog blamed for killing local animals.

In 1943, orphan Sébastien (Félix Bossuet) lives in a small village in the French Alps with César (Tchéky Karyo), the old shepherd he regards as his grandfather, and César’s niece Angélina (Margaux Chatelier). The village of Saint-Martin is under German occupation, and its people are unsettled by talk of a beast that has been killing animals. No one has seen it, but it is said to be a large dog that was mistreated and now lives wild. Sébastien spends his days in the mountains. When he meets the animal, he cleans her, names her Belle and decides to keep their friendship secret to protect her. A German patrol led by Lieutenant Peter (Andreas Pietschmann) arrives in Saint-Martin.
