Christmas concerts 2026
Advent is the busiest time of the German concert year: Bach's Christmas Oratorio in churches and concert halls, Advent concerts by orchestras and choirs, and the boys' choirs of Leipzig and Dresden, the Thomaner and the Kreuzchor. The popular ones sell out early.
What you'll hear
Bach
Christmas Oratorio
Six cantatas for the days from Christmas to Epiphany, written for Leipzig. Often only cantatas I to III are played, which makes an evening of about two hours.
Thomaner & Kreuzchor
Boys' choirs
The Thomanerchor in Leipzig and the Dresdner Kreuzchor sing through Advent and at Christmas: motets, carols and Christmas Vespers.
Orchestras & choirs
Advent concerts
Christmas concerts by orchestras and choirs with carols, well-known pieces and guests. An easy first concert for the whole family.
