Plan your visit to Focus Filmtheater
Which hall should I choose at Focus Filmtheater?
Choose Zaal 1 for the largest room on the ground floor, Zaal 2 for a first-row wheelchair place, and Zalen 3, 4 or 5 for the smallest rooms. Focus publishes no seat plan or sight-line details, so this guide helps you choose a hall; ask at the box office for a specific seat.
Zaal 1 is on the ground floor next to the entrance hall and has 128 seats, including two wheelchair places. Zaal 2 on the first floor seats 106 and has a retractable tribune that can be pushed back completely, so it works as a cinema, theatre, flat-floor room or forum; its wheelchair places are in the first row, near the screen. Zalen 3, 4 and 5 are intimate halls on the second floor, each with 51 seats and two wheelchair places at the back. A lift reaches every floor.
Seats are chosen when booking, online or at the box office. The system does not allow one empty seat to be left between bookings. The venue holds three places per hall for a wheelchair user and a companion, except in Zaal 2; wheelchair places can be booked by phone or email until 24 hours before the film, after which unreserved places are released.
In practice, Zaal 1 suits anyone who wants the largest room on the entrance level. Zaal 2 is the only hall with wheelchair places in the first row, and it opens onto the first-floor foyer and its mobile bar. Zalen 3, 4 and 5 are the smallest rooms, on the second floor; Focus describes them as ideal for presentations with a smaller group. None of the halls is described as having a balcony, and the venue publishes no row numbers, legroom or sight-line information. If you need an aisle seat or more space, ask at the box office when booking.
How many people fit in Focus Filmtheater?
Focus does not publish one capacity for the whole building. Its five halls seat 128, 106, 51, 51 and 51; the table compares them with Pathé Arnhem and Musis & Stadstheater.
Focus publishes the seat count per hall, not a figure for the building as a whole, so this page does not add the halls together. The whole-building row therefore says not published. Zaal 1 seats 128, Zaal 2 seats 106 and Zalen 3, 4 and 5 seat 51 each.
The comparison rows show scale rather than like-for-like use. Musis & Stadstheater is a theatre with two large halls; Pathé Arnhem is the city's nine-screen multiplex. The Musis figures come from its official Onze zalen page; Pathé's 1,683 seats and largest hall of 308 come from its Wikipedia entry.

Focus is on Audrey Hepburnplein in the centre of Arnhem. From Arnhem Centraal it is about 13 minutes on foot; bus 33 stops at Eusebiuskerk and Rozet, both about 4 minutes from the door.
From the station, follow the signs to the city centre and Eusebiusplein. The theatre is on Audrey Hepburnplein, close to the Eusebiuskerk. After a late screening, check the current timetable before you travel: Focus does not publish the last bus times, so confirm whether your bus from Eusebiuskerk or Rozet still runs. What is Focus Filmtheater?
Focus is Arnhem's arthouse cinema on Audrey Hepburnplein, with five halls, a café-restaurant, a terrace on the Jansbeek and films on the roof.
Focus Filmtheater has been Arnhem's film house since 1973, when it started under the roof of Willemeen with fewer than ten volunteers. It moved to the Korenmarkt in 1978 and grew from one hall to three. In June 2018 it opened the current building on Audrey Hepburnplein, on the site of the old Kerkplein. The broad staircase, with the Eusebiuskerk tower visible through the glass roof, has become one of the city's most photographed spots.
Five halls show a mix of current films, classics, documentaries and special events. The café-restaurant is in the same building, with a sunny terrace on the Jansbeek; in summer, films also screen on the roof.
Focus is a member of the Nederlands Filmtheater Overleg (NFO), the Nederlandse Vereniging van Bioscopen en Filmtheaters (NVBF) and Europa Cinemas. The box office is on the ground floor; the halls are on the ground, first and second floors, reached by stairs or lift.
