About
Former members of the Christian sect Faderhuset recount their experiences, which Danish actors reenact under their guidance in a mix of documentary and fiction.
Father's House is a hybrid of documentary and drama about the Christian evangelical community Faderhuset, which cut itself off from the outside world. Several former members talk about their experiences in the sect, whose leaders are described as manipulating members by first applying pressure and humiliation and then drawing them back in with warmth. Their memories are reenacted by Danish actors, among them Trine Dyrholm as Ruth Evensen/Ruth Kristiansen, David Dencik, Emma Sehested Høeg as Kristina Djarling, Laura Kronborg Kjær as Camilla Johnson and Özlem Sağlanmak. Ex-members are present on set as advisers and help the actors find the right tone, making the film documentary, making-of and feature in one.
