Striezelmarkt

One of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany, held in Advent since 1434, mostly on the Altmarkt. The name comes from Striezel, the old word for Dresden's Stollen.

Dresden Stollen Festival

Saturday 5 December 2026

On the Saturday before the second Sunday of Advent a giant Stollen is paraded through the old town to the Striezelmarkt and cut there. The parade starts at about 11:00 at the Kulturpalast.

SemperOpernball

Friday 5 February 2027

The ball in the Semperoper and on the Theaterplatz, in 2027 under the motto "Vivi il momento – a night in Elbflorenz". A strolling ticket gets you in without a table.

The city's music festival, held every year between May and June, has its 50th edition in 2027. Tickets go on sale on 25 November 2026.

International Dixieland Festival

A week of traditional jazz, in 2027 for the 55th time: concerts on Elbe steamers, in halls and in churches. The programme and tickets are out from 9 November 2026.

A neighbourhood festival run by residents on the Martin-Luther-Platz in the Neustadt, on the third weekend of June, when the Bunte Republik Neustadt used to be held.

For one weekend the old village centres, wine villages and gardens on the Elbe slopes between Loschwitz and Pillnitz celebrate, run by a volunteer association since 1991.
