Capacity

How many people fit in Theater de Voorveghter?

The large theatre hall seats about 480 people and the small hall 100. For a private event the whole building takes up to 650 people.

The 480-seat hall is the main auditorium and the 100-seat hall the second; the building also has two cinema rooms and four foyers. Do not add the two halls together to get a concert capacity: they are separate rooms, and the 650 figure is the venue’s maximum for a private event using the building.

Compared with the theatres people travel from in this part of Overijssel, De Voorveghter is a mid-sized regional house: Schouwburg Ogterop in Meppel has a 484-seat main hall and a 120-seat Engelenbak, while Theater De Spiegel in Zwolle seats 919 as standard.

Seating plan

Choosing seats in the hall

You usually pick your own seat on the seat map when you book online. The auditorium is split into an even and an odd side, so seats 7 and 9 are neighbours just as 8 and 10 are.

  4. Seat numbering

    Even and odd sides

Seat numbers run in two series: even on one side of the hall, odd on the other. A gap in the numbers within one order therefore does not mean a gap between people. The theatre places every ticket from the same order next to each other, whether the order is for two, three or six seats; only for an almost sold-out show can the theatre place you differently.

Wheelchair spaces are not sold online. Both halls have special places, and you book them by phone on 0523 280 350 or by email so the theatre can lay out the spaces properly. The building also has an adapted toilet.

If you book within 48 hours of a performance, collect and pay the tickets at least half an hour before the start. Up to 48 hours before a performance you can exchange your tickets for another one.

Questions

Theater de Voorveghter: questions people ask

Where is Theater de Voorveghter?

At Badhuisplein 3, 7772 XA Hardenberg, in the centre of town. From Hardenberg station it is about 15 minutes on foot (1,070 m), and the Centrum bus stop with lines 598 and 599 is 550 m away.

How many seats does Theater de Voorveghter have?

The large theatre hall has about 480 seats and the small hall 100. The whole building takes up to 650 people for a private event; the two halls are separate rooms, so you do not add them together for a normal show.

What time do shows start and end?

Most evening performances start at 20:15, with some at 20:00 or 19:30; doors open an hour before. The theatre emails the expected end time two days before the performance. A typical full-length evening show starting at 20:15 ends around 22:15.

When is the box office open?

Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 to 14:00, except on national holidays, and one hour before a performance. The box office number is 0523 280 350; the general number is 0523 280 330.

Can I park at the theatre?

Yes. The Centrum/Theater garage at Gedempte Haven 8 has 275 spaces and is a two-minute walk (140 m); Badhuisplein behind the theatre is one minute. Parking costs € 1,15 per hour, and it is free outside the paid hours.

How do I get there by public transport?

Take the train to Hardenberg station and walk about 15 minutes (1,070 m). Buses 598 and 599 stop at Centrum, 550 m or 8 minutes from the theatre; buses 30, 597, 598 and 629 stop at Gemeentehuis, 610 m away.

Is the theatre wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Both halls have wheelchair spaces and the building has an adapted toilet. Book those places by phone on 0523 280 350 or by email, because they cannot be reserved through the online seat map.

Can I choose my own seat?

Yes, in most cases you pick your seat on the seat map when you book online. The hall has an even and an odd side, so numbers 7 and 9 are next to each other; tickets in one order are placed together.

Can I bring a child or a baby?

Children are welcome in the age category shown with each performance. Babies are not admitted unless the performance says otherwise, and every visitor needs a ticket and a reserved seat for fire safety.

Can I exchange or cancel my tickets?

Up to 48 hours before the performance you can exchange your tickets for another show or receive digital credit, with € 3,00 cancellation costs per ticket. After that, contact the theatre; a late arrival gives no right to a refund.

Can I take photos during a performance?

No. Photography, film and sound recordings are not allowed during performances without permission, and phones must be switched off. A ringing phone disturbs the performers and the audience.

Is there a hearing loop?

Yes. A free infrared hearing loop is available on loan and works with or without a hearing aid. Ask a member of staff to test it before the performance starts.

Where can we eat before the show?

The theatre lists several restaurants in Hardenberg, including Brasserie de Markt at one minute on foot, Amused on the Voorstraat, De Troubadour by the water and Rheezer Bistro at the edge of the woods.
