Seating plan

Which seats are best in the main hall?

Schematic seating plan: Floor, Balcony, Wheelchair places, Lift, around the stageLiftWheelchair placesBalconyFloorStage
Schematic. The organiser sets the stage position, floor blocks and sightlines for each show; your ticket seller has the seat map with numbers.
  1. Floor

    232 seats

  2. Balcony

    110 seats

  3. Wheelchair places

    4, book by phone

  4. Lift

    None; balcony by stairs

Every seat in the 342-seat main hall has a clear view of the stage, so the best seat is the one closest to the stage that is still free. The floor holds 232 seats and the balcony 110.

The floor starts to rise from row 5, which improves the sightlines. The sound and lighting desk sits in the middle of rows 7 and 8, and the balcony overhangs rows 8 to 11. Pillars stand beside the corner seats of row 9, but they do not block the view from the corner seats of rows 10 and 11.

The balcony is reached by stairs only, because there is no lift. Four wheelchair places are reserved in the hall and cannot be booked online: reserve them by phone or at the box office, without booking fees. In the small hall, and at unplaced performances where you buy a ticket without a seat number, you cannot choose a seat.

Where can I park at Theater de Speeldoos?

Free, behind the theatre (about a hundred cars) or at Sportpark Ter Eem, De Geerenweg 4, about five minutes' walk away. Parking is free everywhere in Baarn.

Is parking really free in Baarn?

Yes. The car park behind the theatre, Sportpark Ter Eem and the surrounding streets are free. Two charging points for electric cars stand behind the theatre.

What is the best seat in the main hall?

Every seat has a clear view, so choose a floor seat near the stage: the floor rises from row 5, and corner seats in rows 10 and 11 are clear of the pillars.

What time do shows start and end?

Most evening performances start at 20:15 and end around 21:45; some run to 22:45. Matinees start earlier, for example 11:00 or 13:45. Check your ticket for the exact times.

How early should I arrive?

The doors and bar open about an hour before the performance and the hall about fifteen minutes before the start. Latecomers are admitted only if the performance allows it.

How do I get there by public transport?

Baarn station is 1,500 m away, a 15 to 20 minute walk. Bus 272, 572 or N70 stops at Johannes Vermeerlaan (8 min walk) and Geerenplein (10 min walk); bus 572 also stops at Meander Medisch Centrum.

Can I leave my coat at the theatre?

Yes, the cloakroom is free and unattended, and a Kaplock coat lock is free for now. Coats cannot be taken into the hall, for fire safety.

Can I pay with cash?

No. The box office and the bar accept debit cards and mobile payments only.

Is the theatre accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes: automatic doors, an accessible toilet and four wheelchair places in the main hall, booked by phone or at the box office. There is no lift, so the balcony is reached by stairs.

Can I eat at the theatre?

Can I return my tickets if I cannot come?

You can return theatre tickets up to seven days before the performance for €5.00 per ticket; the rest goes on your account as credit valid for one year. Film tickets cannot be returned.

Do children need their own ticket?

Yes, even a child on your lap needs a reserved seat, for fire safety. Seat boosters are available at the hall entrance, and babies are not admitted to children's performances.

Can I book a wheelchair place online?
