How many people fit in Haventheater IJmuiden?
The theatre hall seats 702 people. The venue's own site says "more than 650", which the 702 figure satisfies. The hall is a converted tennis hall with a 30-metre stage, a tiered tribune and no balcony.

The 702 figure comes from a 2025 Great Venues report that quotes Roel Philips. The venue's own site gives only a lower bound, "more than 650".
The comparison puts the hall alongside PHIL Haarlem's Grote and Kleine Zalen and the Grote Theaterzaal at Schuur Haarlem, all existing venues. The 1,150, 408 and 282 figures come from PHIL's and Schuur's own pages.
| Venue | Type | Capacity | Source |

Seating plan: rows, the tribune and the best seats
The hall has a tiered tribune with rows A to C midships and rows 1 and 2 at the sides; those front rows are the easiest for visitors who cannot manage steps.

- Easiest rows
- A, B, C midships; 1 and 2 port, midships, starboard
- Tribune
- Rows rise in steps

- 3, not bookable online
- Two seats beside three free seats
- Not bookable online; call the box office
The row names follow a ship's layout: bakboord (port), midscheeps (midships) and stuurboord (starboard). The tribune rises in steps, so higher rows involve stairs. There is no balcony.
- Pick your own seat on the online seat map when you book.
- For less mobile visitors, book rows A, B or C midships, or rows 1 or 2.
- Wheelchair places are booked by phone on 0255-546148, Tuesday to Friday 14:00-16:00.
- If only three seats are left in a row and you need two, call the box office; the website blocks that combination.

What is Haventheater IJmuiden?
Haventheater IJmuiden is the temporary home of Stadsschouwburg & Filmtheater Velsen, opened in October 2024 in a converted tennis hall on the Dokweg.
The theatre moved from the Stadsschouwburg on the Groeneweg, which the Velsen council decided to renovate in 2022. The old building is closed during the work; the Dokweg location is temporary.
The hall was a tennis hall before it became a theatre. It has a 30-metre stage, a tiered tribune and no balcony or fly tower. The interior and theatre technology came from the Stadsschouwburg.
The programme mixes theatre, cabaret, music, film and local makers. The venue also hires the hall and foyer for meetings and events.
