How many people fit in Comedytrain?
Comedytrain publishes no seat count for either hall, so there is no reliable capacity figure for the club.
The club moved to the Westergas in January 2026. Its Grote Zaal has slightly more seats than the old Toomler room, but the site gives no number; the Kleine Zaal is the smaller attic room for try-outs and English-language shows. For a group or a room enquiry, ask the venue directly: the room-hire page asks for an indication of guest numbers rather than naming a maximum.
To show the club's scale, the table compares it with Amsterdam comedy and cabaret rooms whose capacity is published: Boom Chicago's main cabaret setting seats 230 and its upstairs theater seats 135, while De Kleine Komedie seats 500. It is a comparison of size, not of programme: Comedytrain is a comedy club with two intimate halls, not a concert hall.
| Venue | Capacity | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Comedytrain, Grote Zaal and Kleine Zaal | Not published | Comedytrain |
| Boom Chicago, main cabaret setting | 230 | Boom Chicago |
| Boom Chicago, Upstairs Theater | 135 | Boom Chicago |
| De Kleine Komedie | 500 | De Kleine Komedie |
Seating at Comedytrain: unreserved seats, first come first served
Seats are unreserved: your ticket gets you in, and the early visitor picks the seat.
The Grote Zaal has unreserved seats facing the stage. Tickets carry no seat number, and the venue cannot guarantee that a group sits together. Come when the doors open, 30 minutes before the show, for the best choice.
The Kleine Zaal is the attic room, known in the programme as 'op zolder'. It is smaller and closer to the comedian, and it hosts try-outs, Open Podium and English-language shows. At a comedy club the front row is part of the act: choose a seat further back if you would rather not be picked on.
- Doors open 30 minutes before the start. Dinner guests arrive two hours before a 19:00 or 20:30 show.
- For a group, mail [email protected]; adjacent seats are not guaranteed.
Eating at Comedytrain: dinner in the foyer before selected shows
You can eat before selected Grote Zaal shows: a table in the foyer, booked separately from the ticket.
Dinner is not included in a show ticket, and a table reservation gives no access to the performance. Book the show through Weeztix and the table through Guestplan for the same evening. The kitchen works to the show time: for a 19:00 show, sit down at 17:00; for a 20:30 show, at 18:30 or 18:45. There is no dinner before 22:00 shows.
Check the current menu on the venue's site before booking. Tell the box office in advance about dietary needs or a party of more than six.

- Guestplan, separate from the ticket

- A dinner reservation is not a show ticket: book both for the same evening.
- The foyer is where the evening starts; the halls open 30 minutes before the show.

Comedytrain visitor information: tickets, age and house rules
Tickets come from Weeztix, seats are unreserved and the minimum age is 16.
Keep your Weeztix confirmation in your mailbox; the tickets can become visible shortly before the show. Doors open 30 minutes before the start; after the start, entry is normally not possible. The club is cashless: pay by pin or credit card. Photos, video and sound recordings during the show are not allowed.
Ticket prices differ by show: Line-up and Matinee €24, Comedy op zolder and Try-Out €15, a double bill €20 and Open Podium €10. The price on the show page is the one you pay. Tickets cannot be moved or refunded; TicketSwap is the way to pass one on.
- 16+ for every show except Echt Gebeurd.
- No rebooking or refunds; resell through TicketSwap.
Getting to Comedytrain: tram, bus and the walk from Centraal
The club is on the Westergas at Pazzanistraat 1. The nearest daytime stop is Van Limburg Stirumplein (tram 5), a 4-minute walk; after the last tram, night bus N88 stops at Van Limburg Stirumstraat, 2 minutes away. Amsterdam Centraal is 31 minutes on foot.
For the daytime trip, tram 5 stops at Van Limburg Stirumplein and De Wittenkade, and bus 21 stops at Van Hallstraat and Van der Hoopstraat. Night buses cover the late trip home: N88 stops at Van Limburg Stirumstraat and Van der Hoopstraat, N81 at Assendelftstraat. Walking from Centraal through the Westerpark takes about half an hour.
There is no visitor car park at the venue itself, so drivers should use Q-Park Westergasfabriek, covered in the parking section.
Parking at Comedytrain: Q-Park Westergasfabriek, 10 minutes' walk
Comedytrain has no car park of its own. The nearest garage is Q-Park Westergasfabriek at Van Bleiswijkstraat 8, a 730 m walk of about 10 minutes.
The garage is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has 505 spaces, including 10 disabled spaces and 6 electric charging points. The rate is €2 per 25 minutes, €4.80 per hour and a maximum of €38 per day. On a busy Westergas evening, reserve a space online before you drive.
Willemspoort at Haarlemmer Houttuinen 549 is 830 m away, about 12 minutes' walk, with 203 spaces; it charges €1.50 per 10 minutes, €9 per hour and €90 per day. Marnix at Frederik Hendrikplantsoen, 19 minutes away, has 800 spaces but 80% are reserved for permit holders, so it is not a realistic visitor option for a show; its operator publishes no visitor rate in the national parking register, so check the signs on arrival.
| Car park | Address | Walk | Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q-Park Westergasfabriek | Van Bleiswijkstraat 8, 1051 DG Amsterdam | 730 m, 10 min walk | €2 per 25 min; €4.80 per hour; €38 per day |
| Willemspoort | Haarlemmer Houttuinen 549, Amsterdam | 830 m, 12 min walk | €1.50 per 10 min; €9 per hour; €90 per day |
| Marnix (Singelgrachtgarage) | Frederik Hendrikplantsoen, Amsterdam | 1370 m, 19 min walk | No published visitor rate; 800 spaces, 80% permit holders |

Open Podium at Comedytrain: how new stand-ups get on stage
Open Podium gives four to six new comedians the stage alongside Comedytrain members, usually on a Thursday.
About Comedytrain: a collective with its own stage since 1990
Comedytrain is an Amsterdam stand-up collective that has given comedians their own stage since 1990. Members test new material in front of a real audience before taking it to theatres, and the line-ups mix established names with new talent.
In January 2026 the collective left its long-time home under the Hilton and moved to the Westergas at Pazzanistraat 1. The new club has two halls, the Grote Zaal and the Kleine Zaal, and a foyer for dinner. The name Toomler stayed behind at the old location.
The core is sixty comedians. Alongside the regular Line-up, the programme includes try-outs, matinees, double bills, English-language shows and Open Podium for new talent.

Comedytrain: questions people ask
What time do shows at Comedytrain start and end?
A typical evening show starts at 20:00 and ends around 21:30, about an hour and a half. The matinee starts at 16:00 and the late Line-up at 22:00; the exact end time is on the show page. Doors open 30 minutes before the start.
Can I choose my seat at Comedytrain?
Yes, but seats are unreserved: arrive early to choose, and the venue cannot guarantee that a group sits together. Doors open 30 minutes before the show. For a group, mail [email protected].
What is the minimum age at Comedytrain?
16. The age limit applies to every show except Echt Gebeurd, which has its own rule.
Can I change or cancel my Comedytrain ticket?
No. The venue does not exchange or refund tickets. You can resell a ticket through TicketSwap, which is the official resale route named by the club.
What happens if I am late for a show?
After the start, entry is normally not possible. Come when the doors open, 30 minutes before the show; with a dinner reservation you are expected two hours before a 19:00 or 20:30 show.
Is there parking at Comedytrain?
Not at the club: it has no car park of its own. Q-Park Westergasfabriek at Van Bleiswijkstraat 8 is 730 m away, about a 10-minute walk, and charges €2 per 25 minutes, €4.80 per hour and at most €38 per day.
How do I get to Comedytrain by public transport?
The nearest daytime stop is Van Limburg Stirumplein (tram 5), 230 m and a 4-minute walk; bus 21 stops at Van Hallstraat (8 minutes). From Amsterdam Centraal it is a 31-minute walk or a short bus ride. After the last tram, night bus N88 stops at Van Limburg Stirumstraat, 2 minutes away, and night bus N81 at Assendelftstraat.
Can I eat at Comedytrain before the show?

How many people fit in the Grote Zaal?
Comedytrain publishes no seat count. The site says the Grote Zaal has slightly more seats than the old Toomler room, and the Kleine Zaal is the smaller attic hall. For a group or a room booking, ask the venue for the current maximum.
Is Comedytrain accessible for wheelchair users?
The venue asks visitors with access needs to contact the box office before the visit, so it can discuss what is needed. It publishes no step-free route, lift or adapted-toilet detail, so confirm your route and seat with the team when you book.
What is the difference between the Grote Zaal and the Kleine Zaal?
The Grote Zaal is the main hall for Line-up, matinee and double bills; dinner before selected shows is served in the foyer. The Kleine Zaal is the attic room for try-outs, Open Podium and English-language comedy; it is smaller and the stage is closer.
