About

Meeuw Jonge Theatermakers presents Scherven van de wereld, a theatre concert with protest songs at Schouwburg De Lawei, Drachten, on 18 November 2026 at 20:15.

What to expect

Meeuw Jonge Theatermakers presents Scherven van de wereld, a theatre concert with protest songs written by four young writers from Friesland.

The songs are about the right to be who you are, a life that derails without a home, racism, and a world full of contrasts and war.

Mats Voshol set the texts to music and put together a four-piece band.

The four writers are Rixt Siderius, David Gil Bisschop, Bastiaan Okkema and Rowan Vis.

Jonge Schrijvers is a talent development programme of Explore the North and Meeuw Jonge Theatermakers, for young writers from Friesland aged 14 to 18.

Songwriters Arnold de Boer and Koen Frijns guided the young writers for Scherven van de wereld.

The band is Mats Voshol, Bram Wassink, Renske de Boer and Junior Effah-Bekoe, with Mats Voshol also leading the music.
