About
A documentary on LOT-EK, Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano's New York studio, which turns shipping containers and discarded materials into homes, schools and libraries.
We Start With the Things We Find is a documentary about LOT-EK, the New York architectural studio founded by Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano. The film takes a worldwide journey by sea container, a symbol of consumer society, and shows how the studio looks for other uses for containers and discarded materials from industrial society. LOT-EK turns them into homes, schools, libraries and unique architectural and artistic spaces. Tolla and Lignano grew up in Naples and fell for New York, a city that acknowledges its problems rather than hiding them.
