About
Ailing Boonmee stays with family in the countryside, where the ghost of his wife and his long-lost son appear as he recalls past lives.
Boonmee (Thanapat Saisaymar), who has a failing kidney, lives on a farm in the countryside with his sister-in-law Jen (Jenjira Pongpas) and his nephew Tong (Sakda Kaewbuadee). His Laotian assistant Jaai (Samud Kugasang) gives him peritoneal dialysis. One evening, while Boonmee, Jen and Tong are eating dinner, the ghost of Boonmee's wife Huay (Natthakarn Aphaiwonk) appears; she died more than a decade earlier. A hairy, red-eyed figure also joins them and is revealed to be Boonmee's long-lost son Boonsong (Geerasak Kulhong), who had practiced photography and disappeared some years after Huay died. As he recalls past lives, Boonmee contemplates the reasons for his illness.
