About
A film crew in Central Park shoots a couple's screen test while cameras record the director, crew and production itself.
In Manhattan's Central Park, a film crew led by director William Greaves shoots screen tests with pairs of actors. Patricia Ree Gilbert appears as herself, testing for Alice, and Don Fellows as himself, testing for Freddy; their scene is a confrontation between a couple, with the man demanding to know what is wrong and the woman challenging his sexual orientation. One camera records the exchange, another follows Greaves and the crew, and a third records the whole production. The crew is seen discussing the scene, its language and the process of making a movie. The cameras also pick up distractions in the park, including a woman on horseback and a homeless veteran who sleeps there and chats with the crew. The film is a cinéma vérité documentary with a documentary inside a documentary inside a documentary.
