About
Carol Nguyen follows her Vietnamese Canadian family to Vietnam after her uncle Thach's death, to reflect on the past.
Still Night, Burning House is a documentary by Carol Nguyen about her Vietnamese Canadian family. The film follows the family as they gather for their first reunion since the death of Nguyen’s uncle Thach, who struggled with mental illness. Nearly twenty years later, Thach’s brother, Nguyen’s father, still feels guilt over what happened. Together with other relatives, he travels to Vietnam to look back on the past and to try to reconnect. The family examines medical records that were unsealed and deals with a silence that has lasted for decades.
