About

A documentary follows Russian independent journalists who flee into exile after the invasion of Ukraine and continue their work under repression.

Julia Loktev's documentary sequel follows several independent Russian journalists who leave their country for exile after the invasion of Ukraine and the Putin government's crackdown on free speech. Among them are Anna Nemzer, Ksenia Mironova, Irina Dolinina and Alesya Marokhovskaya, who appear as themselves. Branded foreign agents by the authorities, they have faced strict rules in their work, including for the independent television channel TV Rain, and the threat of imprisonment. Now dispersed to locations such as Prague, Tbilisi, Amsterdam, Latvia and New York, they continue reporting on the war in Ukraine. Several have been convicted in absentia on espionage charges; many still hope to return home one day.
