About

King Arthur and his squire recruit Knights of the Round Table in a comic parody of the Arthurian legend.

Set in AD 932, this British comedy from Monty Python parodies the Arthurian legend. King Arthur (Graham Chapman) travels Britain with his squire Patsy (Terry Gilliam), who claps coconut shells together to imitate a horse, looking for men worthy of the Knights of the Round Table. On the road Arthur argues about coconuts, passes through a plague-stricken town, tells two peasants how he received Excalibur and faces the Black Knight. At a witch trial he recruits Sir Bedevere (Terry Jones); Sir Lancelot (John Cleese), Sir Galahad (Michael Palin) and Sir Robin (Eric Idle) later join him, with their squires and Robin's minstrels. Directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, the film follows the group's encounters as Arthur gathers his knights.

Based on Arthurian romance
