Just Look Up opens at a formal dinner in Massachusetts, where the mood turns when members of the activist group Climate Defiance reveal themselves among the guests and take the stage to put a senior banking executive on the spot. The documentary follows these young idealists and their methods in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election. Central figure is Michael Greenberg, who seeks to fight the climate crisis in the spirit of Gandhi and Martin Luther King: through nonviolent but forceful protests meant to wake people up. Disrupting an event may not immediately change a politician or billionaire, but it draws attention. Greenberg and his companions are regularly arrested with force and sometimes meet resistance even from their own parents.
