About

Five people with incurable cancer talk with their oncologist and the camera about treatment, hope and the time that may remain.

Rob, Rein, Tilly, Ben and Marian, five people with incurable cancer, have already heard that their cancer cannot be cured. In the oncologist's consulting room they try to face what that means, together with the people close to them. They speak straight into the camera, which takes the doctor's viewpoint, and share their concerns and questions with the oncologist.

The first questions concern treatments and how much time may be left. What starts as unreal becomes more concrete over weeks and months, with setbacks and better moments. The film shows how they deal with hope and with what they still want: a long journey to see family again, or simply continuing ordinary life with less energy. The doctor comes across as empathetic but can offer little certainty.
