About
A wealthy heiress follows her boyfriend to France, where her father's disapproval and a mysterious stranger complicate their relationship.
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Champagne is a 1928 British silent comedy with Betty Balfour as Betty, Gordon Harker as Mark and Jean Bradin as The Boy. Betty, a wealthy heiress, uses her father's aeroplane to fly out to meet The Boy, who is travelling by ocean liner to France. Her millionaire father disapproves of her lifestyle and of the young man. When The Boy is seasick on board, Betty dines alone and meets a mysterious man, The Man (Ferdinand von Alten). A telegram from her father warns that her friends will not admire her boyfriend. To prove her father wrong, Betty asks The Boy to marry her; he resents her control of the relationship, and they quarrel.
