Leiden Marathon
Marathon, half marathon and 10 km on the Sunday, with a 5 km and walking routes on the Saturday and a free children's run on the Sunday afternoon.

One evening when the museums of the city stay open late, with talks, workshops and performances on top of the collections.
Leidens Ontzet (3 October)
The city's big day, remembering the relief of Leiden in 1574, held every year on 3 October with the festivities starting on the 2nd. On the 3rd come free herring and white bread in the morning and the Grote Optocht in the afternoon, and the fair is there on both days.
